Indivuality, capability and heritage are just a few words that describe the overall feel of owning this vehicle. But, on the other side of the spectrum...expensive, expensive, expensive. Land Rovers are know for their durability, but unknown to most for the maintenance needed to keep them durable. | | | What things have gone wrong with the car: | The Discovery is prone to faulty British craftmanship. As with all British vehicles, wiring components are quirky. Just about all years of the Discovey have a seperate engine problem. The 97 was frequent with sticky valves, which I had to have engine work done frequently. When you fix one thing, it's just a matter of time before something else goes wrong. I was plauged with problems on mine and would probably never own another one until I was filthy rich and had more than one vehicle. Rather annoying to have so many problems with a vehicle that was only a couple of years old. They call it the "Land Rover Experience". | | | Previous car: | Toyota 4-Runner: More day to day dependable and cheaper parts, but everyone has one and you don't feel like anything special when you drive one.Lexus RX300: Comparable on the luxury level, but more like driving a tall station wagon or a cool van. |
